What is the red lapel accent on Tripp Darling's suit?

On Dirty Sexy Money.

Thanks.

I can’t prove this, but here’s my speculation: civilians who are recipients of the French Legion of Honor often wear a narrow, inconspicuous red bar or ribbon on the left lapel, since wearing a big, clanky medal would be considered in poor taste. It’s entirely conceivable that Tripp Darling might have received this award.

Here’s a photo of Jerry Lewis wearing a red lapel bar very similar to the one worn by Donald Sutherland as Tripp Darling. Jerry Lewis was given a French Legion of Honor medal on his 80th birthday.

Thanks!

That raises another interesting explanation: Tripp Darling could be an honourary Member or Officer of the Order of Canada, although I haven’t found a trustworthy source that says that such an honor could be indicated by a red lapel bar.

The explanation is especially interesting given that Donald Sutherland is an Officer of the Order of Canada.

What a great touch. I have really enjoyed this show.

I believe that last night was the last episode that we will see for a while. They originally made ten episodes and were given the green light to make thirteen more to complete the first season. This is all on hold because of the strike.

The ribbon bar of the Order of Canada is red and white, with a maple leaf.
