Damn right it is. I never claimed otherwise. Now why would you address such an obvious non-sequitur to me?
Or were you trying to make my point for me? 90 - 0 is a much greater difference in speed than 90 - 70. Thus, more dangerous.
A car traveling at 90 MPH, hitting an object traveling at 60 MPH, will cause more damage than if it hits an object traveling at 85 MPH. And if both objects are traveling at 90 MPH (in the same direction), they won’t collide at all. Simple physics again.
If you’re going the same speed as everyone else, driving like a sane person, you’re more likely to be hit by a meteor than to be pulled over. The best way to get a ticket is to draw attention to yourself, and driving slower than everyone else is a great way to do that.
No, no, NO! Your inconsistencies lie in the fact that you continually say you are passing people in the slower lane and yet at the same time these speeding drivers are also passing you in the slower lane or that you want them to pass you in the slower lane. As car designers have not yet acheived a design that includes osmosis, this is impossible.
But yes, if you are in the left lane and you are not passing anyone, you are breaking the law no matter what speed you or anyone around you are doing. In which case, you should get out of the way before an accident happens.
Troll - a poster who only posts to provoke a negative reaction from multiple other posters.
DNFTT - Do Not Feed The Troll. They only want attention.
Name calling - Well this is the Pit. It may not qualify arguments, but it doesn’t really hinder them either. Like many of the more experienced posters and even the great Coldfire himself, I call a spade a spade.
I see you falied to answer the bulk of my post. In which case, I think I’m fully justified in calling a moronic halfwit a moronic halfwit. And a lying SOB for that matter.
I think that most accidents are caused by people that simply don’t pay attention. Another problem are people doing the unexpected. Like traveling in the passing lane when they are not passing.
We can’t always make people pay better attention.
But.
It’s common knowledge, accepted practice and just plain common sense to travel in the right lane when not passing. In some states its the law.
Deliberately traveling in the passing lane to impede the flow of traffic is endangering yourself and others.
Stupid, inconsiderate and dangerous. Wanna take risks? Fine. Just do it on your own time.
Am I reading this wrong or are you claiming that the behaviour of needlessly occupying the overtaking lane has been endorsed by one or more police officers?
Listen Asshat, if you are in the left lane, and someone behind you wants to go faster than you AND there is a spot for you in the right lane, MOVE YOUR ASS OVER SO THE PERSON BEHIND YOU CAN GET PAST YOU, then feel free to move back to the left to pass more cars. At the point you are not passing any cars you are supposed to move to the right.
GnominClature, you are just sad and pathetic. You tramp ahead in your obtuse surety, not capable of yeilding to clear intelligent thought.
Driving is not racing, it is dancing. It’s a big, directional dance, and the rules are fairly simple: 1) Get where you want to go; 2) Don’t hit anyone else. Every other consideration is mere courtesy, or hopefully, efficiency.
When the dance is done correctly, vehicles get where they want to go with minimum effort or conflict. When someone is a clumsy dancer, or radically steps beyond normal bounds, there is effort and conflict. Sometimes great effort, and tragic conflict.
You, spoil-sport pouting fool, are purposefully making life difficult for others. This is a dangerous hobby that you should divest, for your own sake. No good will come of it – you cannot convince others of your goodness through travail.
Seek professional help if you truly believe you are right.
Ok:
I’m tired of the obscenities. I’m tired of trying to explain myself. I’m tired of your attempts to tear me down intellectually when I slip on the technicalities and nuances in the English language. I’m tired of your brights in my rear-view mirror. I’m pulling over to the slow lane to alleviate your frustrations. I am sorry to be the “fool” that goes against the accepted norm.
I take some of the blame in this, too. So, when I call these problems out, I’m not excluding myself.
I think your corrections and so-called assistance on my choice of words, my choice of non-sequiturs that you cannot solve easily, and my awkward phrases are really ways to make yourselves feel better. You want to correct ignorance, but that word does not mean I am incapable of learning. I am only guessing you all use ignorant as something that’s negative. You are not what I would consider real teachers. I would have been happy to correct myself and answered every question in prior posts if I didn’t sense your arrogance. My attempt to go against the status quo really affects you. This rant also served as a device to see your rage posted, and it’s even more present on the road. I didn’t get my question answered exactly the way I expected it; although, the answer is that drivers are primarily self centered and insolent. I choose to go the speed limit and what I think is safe is and it is my freedom of choice to do so, just like it is your freedom to get on my bumper and flash your lights! I also get frustrated with people like you, but I would never stoop to what some of you have said and done. It’s more than obvious I am out numbered. You win! I am subservient to you all.
Pulling over into the slow lane as per your wishes, my masters…
Thanks! Now that the rest of us can go upon our way, legally, without your passive aggressive bullshit getting in our way, whether we have a medical emergency, an urgent need to be somewhere, or the pizza is getting cold, thanks for letting all of us drive without dealing with assholes like you who do nothing but make the roads a more unsafe place to be. Kudos, my, um, person - don’t know if you’re a man or woman.
Now, was that apology so hard?? But you handled it well…
