Has Elgar’s Enigma Variations ever been solved?
I mean has anybody figured out what the theme is to these variations? I just heard a rumor going around that it is a mirror image of the Schumann Violin Concerto in D minor. Could this be true?
I’m not enough of a scholar of music, but this might give some insight.
