What is the title of the head of police in Australia?

What is the title of the head of a police department in Australia? Specifically, Perth, if that makes a difference. I’m not talking about the commissioner, but someone who might hand out assignments to the detectives, but usually leaves that to the underlings. Does Australia call them chiefs of police?
This is a question I tried to Google, but I couldn’t be sure of the answer I found.

Thanks!

I’m not sure exactly which officers would hand out the assignments you are talking about. I think it depends on the nature and importance of the assignment, and (WAG) would probably be an officer in the top three or four ranks as listed below. I’m not a cop, and I don’t live in Perth, but I hope this helps:

Thanks a bunch! I’m thinking the Superintendant may be the person I’m looking for.
