What is there to do in this world?

Okay, so here’s the thing. I’m always down for new experiences. And the world is a pretty big place so I’m sure there’s a lot to do here. There’s so much though that I don’t even know half of what I’m missing out on. So in this thread I want you to tell me what you like to do, what has been some of the best experiences you’ve had, and just basically tell me what you would recommend to do before you die.

Things I do:

Wrestling/Fighting. It’s hands down the best sport for me. There is a real sense of confidence when you make yourself into a bad-ass and fighting/wrestling somebody with no hard feelings attached can be a lot of fun!

Working out in general. I know it’s hard, and it can take a lot of motivation, but once you start doing it it sort of becomes routine. I feel a real sense of satisfaction when ever you pushed your body to the limit.

Uhmmm obviously sex. Although, I haven’t had as much as I’d like, I’d say its one of the best things out there.

Sports. Competing is a lot of fun for me and when you work hard at a sport and come out on top, it is a real good feeling.

Smoking weed. Sometimes I over-do it but every once in a while can be fun. If you get good stuff it really can expand your mind.

Drugs in general. I know people are going to disagree with me but every once in a while doing some blow or xtc can actually make for a good night.

Drinking, of course. But that’s kind of getting old.

Making a lot of money. It’s nice to not worry about money and do all the things you want to do I’m sure.

Skydiving. That was wild. Next time I’m going solo and not tandem.

Going to your favorite bands concert. Seeing Mars Volta was literally amazing!

Running from the police and getting away. When I was younger the police chased me and my friends cause we were outside drinking. There lights were flashing and they were on the horns. I ran straight into the woods and they chased after me. I literally was running full speed straight into trees and getting back up and kept going. So funny.

Things I’d like to do:

Not worry so much. I wish I could train my mind to always be happy and not be so stressed out about things.

Have a good relationship with a woman. Never really had one and I know I’m missing out big time. I’m ready for one now and I’m sure it will happen eventually, but it’s kind of difficult waiting for so long.

Have kids and a family. I’m going to be the role model and caretaker just like my parents are to me. I will try to listen and understand a little better than them though.

Travel the world. I’ve hardly been out of Pittsburgh, and I’d like to travel everywhere, but I just don’t have the means.

Have a threesome, with two girls of course. I think that would be real sweet.

Volunteer. I’d like to help other people out as best I can. I give the bums spare change, and I pick up hitch-hikers when I see them but I just don’t have the time and am having a hard enough time taking care of myself.

Learn. read more books. Take in all kinds of perspectives and be open and understanding about everything. Sort of why I’m starting this thread.

So go ahead friends, post away. Tell me your life story, what’s fun, what I’m missing out on, and what I should be doing. Looking forward to your responses!

Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world-except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. Mmmmm.

Haha. Also, participating in a band/chorus/theatre group is an awesome experience.

Do something nice for someone. Just because they need it. It is more fun than you may think.

The smoking weed and drugs, isn’t going to help much with being a good role model and caretaker.

Also you may want to get the threesome thing out of the way BEFORE starting the good relationship with a woman.

Fucking, eating, and sleeping are my top 3 hobbies. And playing video games.

Travelling by car is the way to go. My husband and I take a vacation road trip every year, and we’ve had great adventures. We’ve seen 16 states and three provinces (and really SEEN them - we stop at roadside attractions along the way, eat at the local diners, talk to local people) - plus meeting Dopers from all over. We pick a destination and a time frame, and then sort of make it up as we go along.

Dude, if you’ve got money for blow, skydiving and concert tickets, you’ve got money to travel. Stop telling yourself you don’t have the means and actually do it.

There is a whole world out there! Climb the Great Wall, have a wild rickshaw ride through Delhi, float down the Niger river, take a cheesy photo in front of the Eiffel Tower, think about human sacrifice at the Mayan pyramids. It’s a lot cheaper than you think- if you can get to India you can easily travel for less than ten bucks a day.

In my opinion, the subtext of the thread is that you are looking for something a bit more meaningful than NSA sex, drugs and making money. Maybe you could look into some sort of committed volunteer program, like Big Brothers Big Sisters, where you can make some deep bonds and a larger contribution to society. It really doesn’t take that much time if you make it a priority.

Even Sven thanks for the advice. I’m gonna look into that big brother program and might actually do it.

Read a lot. Always have at least one book in progress and another waiting. Read different perspectives on the same subjects.

I’ve had a bunch of great road trips, but I have to say that travels by train or boat can be a whole different kind of experience. In each case, typically, you get delivered into the heart of the older parts of towns and don’t go through the ugly tedium of highway service areas and strip malls and suburbia.

If you are traveling by car, the key is to avoid highways, chain restaurants, chain hotels. Go slower, see more, meet people.

There’s places on this earth where hot,hot water comes out of the ground and mixes with cooler waters. A good pair of water shoes and your inebriant of choice does the rest.
