What is thidiazuron?

It’s a pesticide. I think.

But what is it specifically used for? Can anyone give me details, in semi-laymen’s terms?

There’s some stuff online, but it is rather “scientific” and hard to decipher (or, I’m just too lazy to decipher it).

It is a synthetic auxin, meaning that it is a fake plant hormone/steroid. Application of it to plants (nearly all, but some will have different susceptibility to specific synthetic auxins) cause the plant to “grow to death”- effectively making it put its nutrients toward the wrong needs and creating general havoc.

That’s all to say that it seems to be primarily a herbicide.

Aha! Thanks. Now why can’t other websites just put it like that?
