What is this country song about a pawn shop?

I have looked for years and have not found it anywhere. A long time ago I was drinking and playing pool in a little tavern on the west side of Indy and there was a song on the juke box about a pawn shop.

As I recall it was something about a guy going into a pawn shop to pawn a gun and somebody tries to rob it so he changes his mind.

Or something like that.

There might have been a wedding ring involved as well.

I have for some reason always thought it was by George Jones but I have searched high and low and not found it.

Please help me recover a small piece of my past long ago killed by Budweiser and blue chalk.

Go with your instincts. George Jones.

“Golden Rings.”

Gives me chills every time I hear it.

PS. There weren’t no gun involved.

Golden Rings is an awesome song but I’m afraid it’s not the one.

Heck, it might not even be The Possom I’m looking for, a lot of artists had a similar sound in the '70s.

But thanks for trying.

Never mind, I found it.

It was Conway Twitty - Saturday Night Special

Now if I can remember where I left my keys that night…

I was going to guess “Golden Rings” but I guess not. Gawd, I do like me some classic hurtin’ country songs. 'Specially after a beer or three.

…is the version that SeeqPod finds. I like the wintery imagery better.

I was going on memory. Sorry. In my case, I plead Busch in my early days.
