What is this creamy cheese I had in Paris?

In Paris, outside the train station, is an all night diner. I had an omelet and french fries. I ordered the omelet with cheese, but the cheese came in a little bowl. It was orange, very creamy and even though it was fairly thick, it had a mayonnaise-like texture. Any ideas?
