What is this dialogue from Sixteen Candles?

Early in the film, Samantha and her friend are in the girls’ locker room, enviously eyeing Jake’s girlfriend (or her body double, who knows) in the shower. While Sam moans and groans about the impossibility of measuring up to that, her friend drones, “Mumble mumble mumble…mumble her brother’s deaf and everybody in the world worships her.”

Or at least that’s what it sounds like to me. If not, then what is she saying?

According to this transcript:

She’s perfect.

Practically impossible to cut up.
She’s supposedly real sweet.

Brother’s deaf, and everybody
in the world worships her.

Yup, that’s it. I have seen that movie about a billion times.

“Fred, she’s gotten her boobies.”

Well, okay, but it still doesn’t make sense to me. What does her brother being deaf have to do with the character, her role in the film, or the OMG BOOBIES gratuitous nudity?

But this movie is about teenagers. Why would you expect it to make sense?

maybe people are nicer to her due to the ‘HARDSHIP’ of having a deaf brother?

80’s teen flicks were all about the gratuitous nudity. As for the deaf brother, I think that Push You Down has it right.

Ahem. As someone who was a young male teen in the 80s… It wasn’t gratuitous at all! It was titillating!

I saw this movie for the first time recently. I thought it was terrible. And I loved Pretty in Pink.

Maybe it is YOU that is better than a female extra-terrestrial.

Nah, I only have two. :frowning:

“I can’t believe my grandmother actually felt me up.”
