What is this furshlugginer "InfoBar" of which Outlook Help speaks?

I want to instant message somebody. So I go to Help and ask, How do I send an instant message? The little robot replies:

Click on the InfoBar, compose your message, and click Send. WTF is the InfoBar? I know it’s not an internet cafe, but beyond that I’m vague.

Please help!

(This is in XP by the way).

When you’re looking at that help message, you should see that the word InfoBar is in blue. If you click on it, it will give you the definition of InfoBar:

Of course, you’ll need to enable Instant Messaging (another help topic), have someone who’s also using it, and is online at the moment, etc., etc.
