In NE Ohio. Very dusty looking gray-green leaves.
They look a bit like willow leaves, but it’s hard to tell.
Russian olive. We had one outside my bedroom window when I was a kid.

Yes, Russian olive (Eleagnus angustifolius). Considered invasive, especially in some western states but also Ohio.
My recollection of the Russian olive which we had was:
- It produced large numbers of little fruits
- Every fall, we’d have a day or two in which flocks of migrating cedar waxwings would find the tree, and chow down on that fruit
Neat. Thought it looked like an olive but didn’t realize they could grow around here. It doesn’t appear to have any fruits. Maybe it needs two trees to bear fruit.
