One Saturday in the spring of 1976–I was sixteen…
Our town had its first multiplex theatre–three screens in a converted grocery store–for less than a year.
I arrived in the early afternoon and saw a double bill (remember those?) of Steven Spielberg’s first two movies, neither of which I had seen before, Sugarland Express and a little thing called Jaws.
After that, I left the theater and went across the street for dinner at Taco Bell.
Then I went back to the theater and saw another double bill, Richard Lester’s The Three Musketeers and The Four Musketeers.
Walked home that night high as a kite.
Best day at the movies, ever.
