What is your current go-to reality TV?

The Curse of Oak Island.
I like all the Veterinary shows.
I watch Chopped some and other cooking shows.
I am done with DYI, home improvement shows.

I should have been clearer… I don’t doubt it’s complete horseshit. But it’s still entertaining. Everyone loves a ghost story… even if I know that’s all it is, a story.

Generally speaking, I think I’m inclined to believe that there may be some validity to the paranormal… what exactly that means is anybodys guess. Hell, I even had an experience many years ago. But my open-mindedness doesn’t mean I blindly believe every joker’s ghost story.

So I can watch Ghost Adventures and have fun rolling my eyes and yelling horseshit, but at the same time, under the right circumstances, legitimately believe someone else’s story.

I have watched a couple of those in open amazement of how well "A fool and his money are soon parted" is proven every episode.:stuck_out_tongue:

I try to avoid reality TV shows like a cliché but I admit that I stop and watch American Gladiator just about every time I see it on.

Master Chef Junior is the only one I like.

We have watched waaaaay too many episodes of Dr. Pol - we can diagnose cattle with the best of them!

I used to like House Hunters till I found out how faked it is. Plus you can only hear “So bright and airy” or “granite countertops” or “man cave” before you get stabby.

I can’t stand the competition type shows - especially the ones with heartwarming asides… blech. And I don’t give a damn about shows that follow celebs around.

Yep. Every single one. Even the dogs. But last night was one of the best!

Dancing with the Stars.. I would normally think this is not me, but what they do is pretty amazing-- not easy at all.

Every now and then America Ninja Warrior. Again, not easy!

I’m a Love It or List It fan. I’m getting pretty good at estimating the price of the houses David shows people. Several times I’ve gotten it exactly right, which makes me happier than it probably should.

Favorite quality reality show - “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Reality competition show and it tends to be very good. Also “Great British Bake Off.” I’ve kind of grown bored with most of the other reality competition shows that I used to watch (“Dancing with the Stars” “Amazing Race”). I’ll also watch “Dragons Den” (“Shark Tank,” but they’re Canadian and not obnoxious jerks).
Favorite guilty pleasure, “I’m ashamed that I’m watching it, but where did the last 2 hours go?” reality shows - “I Didn’t Know I was Pregnant” & “My Crazy Ex.” Both of them feature “re-enactments” where someone is doing narration (with occasional appearances by a friend or family member) and then the slightly better looking version of them acts out what is being narrated. These are horrible shows. Their only redeeming value is that a cameraman (& makeup artist, set designer, etc.) is getting a quick paycheck. And yet…
ETA: Nailed It on Netflix. If you like cooking competition shows and have kind of a silly sense of humor. This is awesome. It’s basically “what would happen if I were on Chopped? No really, me as I am. Not a me that had gone to cooking school.” Everyone is in on the joke, so it’s hilarious.

If COPS counts, COPS.

Live PD!

I’ve been on a genealogy kick lately (here’s to you 4th cousin 3x removed Abe Lincoln) so I’m trying to catch up on *Who Do You Think You Are? *

There have been a few competition shows that have followed in the Bake Off tradition of being encouraging and creative, rather than salacious or vindictive. These include Making It, a maker show hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman; LEGO Masters, a show about teams competing in LEGO builds, including children and adults; and The Great Model Railway Challenge, which is competing in building model railway dioramas.

I watch 90 day fiance.

All of the veterinarian & zoo shows
Northwoods Law and the other game warden shows
Who Do You Think You Are and the similar one that’s on PBS
Survivor

Life Below Zero; and before that, Yukon Men.

Salutary moment of realisation: Of all of this isolated-in-the-Alaskan-wilderness stuff, it was particularly Stan Zuray from Yukon Men fascinated me. I mean, the story of his life is intriguing and he appears to be absolutely the real deal. Maybe five years ago I finally thought, what if I google him? So I did, and that lead me directly to… his Twitter feed. Oh, and Facebook.

Yes I should have realised - guilty as charged. But, y’know, just sayin’.

I used to watch Survivor and Amazing Race, but lost interest a number of years ago when (IMO) the shows became scripted and the contestants became actors.

I like Deadliest Catch and Canada’s Worst Driver. But those shows may not fall into the Reality TV genre. And Canada’s Worst Driver has evolved from participants who are genuinely bad drivers to a bunch of sociopaths who have to address severe psychological issues to get at the root cause of their driving issues.

This Old House.

Who do you think you are? is a good show. There is also a PBS version called “Tracing Your Roots” that is well worth watching.

My guilty pleasures are Below Deck, especially watching Captain Lee yell at the crew and 90 Day Fiance

Yes I’ve watched some of that. I’ve also watched as many of the British version of Who Do You Think You Are.

Interesting parallels between the family history of Hilary Duff and Danny Dyer.
It does make me wonder if they already knew some of the outcomes before they approached the celebrities.
