At California Adventure, they’ve retooled the Tower of Terror into a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed ride. Are they keeping ToT in Florida?
Look like ToT is staying for the near future, at least. A Guardians of the Galaxy ride is going into the old Ellen’s Energy Adventure attraction in Epcot. Disney in general is limited in what Marvel they can put into the Orlando park due to a pre-Disney agreement with Universal that allows Universal Studios exclusive use of a large chunk of the characters east of the Mississippi.
Kinda wish that was the case in Anaheim. I keep expecting to visit Tarzan’s Treehouse and hearing it say “I am GROOT!”
Or seeing Spiderman swinging among the cobwebs in the Haunted Mansion.
Where the birds sing words
and the flowers croon
in the Tiki Room.
Not Disney but I was mad when we visited universal florida a few years ago in May and found out they took out the JAWS ride in January of that year.
BUT, they still had it on their ads.
I should have been a lawyer because things like this fascinate me. The Marvel/Disney/Universal contract is one of the most interesting bits of theme park josteling around and it’s just the best.
