What is Your Favorite James Bond Movie and Why?

I don’t know about you but I am Bond “Freak”. I loved those movies since the very first one my dad took me to see. My favorite one is a hard choice for me. I guess I am going to have to go with Live and Let Die.

That one just had everything in it. The coolest boat chase ever filmed I think. The best looking bond girl ever Jane Seymore man she looked great it that movie. Many funny parts including the sheriff that said when he was told James Bond was a secret agent “a secret agent on whoooossse side?” I laughed so hard I spilt the popcorn on my dad’s lap in the theater. Also the part when the bad guy shot the couch with the bullit that had compressed air in it and the fat black dude was swallowed up in it until he popped. The airplane part with the old lady was hilarious too. I could go on but I definetely think all things considered “Live and Let Die” was the best.

Well what about you?

Live and Let Die!!! You’re kidding, right? Yaphet Kotto’s death was just plain stupid.

The best Bond film is a toss-up between From Russian With Love (best suspense) and Goldfinger (for pure entertainment). Some of the later ones were OK, but nothing reached that level.

My favorite is Goldfinger. I think I was 11 years old. It was the first time I went to a movie with a girl!

And I didn’t find a single cootie.

Personally, I’d vote for DR. NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE or THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. The Bond in those films was the Bond I recognize from the books.

On reflection, I think THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. It was light on the usual Bond banter and gadgets, but it was a tightly woven story with interesting twists and turns and Timothy Dalton was a very human James Bond. Deeper than Moore, more convincing than Lazenby, not as psychotic as Brosnan, and less testosterone-macho than Connery.

I’d have to say Goldfinger . I loved it , it is the quintessential bond IMO . A lot of the cliches come from this movie and I love the way Connery says Pussy . The Hank Scorpio Simpsons was a work of genius .

Fav. Bond scenes : The first time your introduced to him in Dr. No. , "Bond , (lights cig.) James Bond " and then the music
Also the end of Thunderball . Getting picked up by the plane , literally .

Definitely Goldfinger. The only good Bond (Connery) and the best names (Pussy Galore :D).

Runner-up: all the ones with the grey Aston Martin. I gotta get me one o’ those!

The Living Daylights. A refreshing change after the last few Roger Moore movies had descended into smirky self-parody. Dalton’s first turn as Bond showed some welcome restraint, the return of the Aston-Martin, and a well-executed plot.

In second place: For Your Eyes Only. I’m not sure why.

I gotta go with The Man With The Golden Gun on account o’ I got three nipples, too…

I saw From Russia With Love on TV just last night.

(were having a bond season here …a big deal when you have only 7 channels)
It confirmed for me two things. Connery is the undispuited king of suave , style , yadda , yadda.

FRWL is perhaps one of the more intelligent, authentic of the movies.

I liked “A view to a kill”. Few rank it high because it came so late, but the scene with the blimp over the Golden Gate Bridge was the best of the aerial stunts, and I know exactly how dangerous it was to make.

I vote for Goldfinger as best movie, and Sophie Marceau as hottest Bond lady.

My vote goes to The Spy Who Loved Me. Come on, how often do you get to see a Lotus transform into a submersible vehicle complete with torpedoes!? Amazing!

Gotta be “For Your Eyes Only”. Why? Oddly enough because of the rock climbing sequence near the end. After being discovered during his solo ascent of a rock face to infiltrate the enemies stronghold, Bond is sent over the edge and falls until his rope catches. Then he fashions Prussic knots from the laces of his rock shoes and climbs back to the top. Just damn. Course, Lynn Holly Johnson seemed a tasty morsel at the time!

Goldfinger for:
‘Do you expect me to talk, Goldfinger?’ ‘No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!’.

The latest one for Sophie Marceu (although Jane Seymour has it too)

The one where the guy skis off the cliff (sorry, I can’t remember the names!)

For Your Eyes Only will always have a special place in my heart, as it was the first Bond movie I ever saw (and since it was my first, I was completely baffled by the opening scene).

That said, The Living Daylights is probably my favorite: great stunts, good plot, neat gadgets.

Some favorite Bond moments:

Octopussy: A tiger jumps out at Bond, and he simply points at it and says “Sit!”

You Only Live Twice: Completely mangling the Japanese language. Sake is not pronounced ‘sack-ee’!

The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker: Jaws. The only villain that actually tries to KILL Bond instead of always making speeches and letting James escape!

Good question. There are as many bad ones as good ones.

I think that Sean Connery’s were the best over all. Roger Moore was good at being cocky and self-assured, but really lacked the physique that would make you think that he could actually be a spy. He always looked more like an insurance adjuster than a spy to me.

That being said, I’ll have to say that Goldeneye was my favorite. It has two insanely hot women in it, and a great story. A little light on the gadgets, though.

But, for pure Bond fun, I’d have to say that Goldfinger was classic Bond.

Interesting, n’est pas, that both my fav’s have “gold” in the title?

I agree.

Hijack-Coolest Bond
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Let us not forget that George Lazenby got to marry Diana Rigg.
End Hijack

Perfect thread for me, considering that I just came off a summer-long Bond binge.

My verdict: The Man with the Golden Gun. The theme song has a kick to it and is straight to the point of the movie, unlike most (except Goldfinger). Scaramanga has got to be one of the best Bond villains ever, if not the best. I like the idea of a hitman gunning specifically for Bond.

Somehow “Gold” seems to bring out the best in Bond. Goldfinger and Goldeneye are somewhere near the top of my list as well.

And I wish there had been some mention in The World is Not Enough that the title of that film is actually the Bond family motto (as revealed in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service) and not just a throwaway line near the end of the movie.

Damn, I forgot “The Man with a Golden Gun.” That’s also classic Bond.

I agree his death was stupid. Wait let’s think this out. Would he have blown up like that? Remember in “Lincense to Kill” when the bad dude killed his deputy bad dude in the decompression chamber. He blew up and exploded why not Kotto.?(I know Kotto shouldn’t have rose to the ceiling but what about just the blowing up part? But I thought the rest of the movie was really entertaining. You have to admit that was the best boat chases ever filmed in any movie. If you can think of a better one just name it. I bet you can’t.

The “Spy Who Loved Me” was a bad “a” one.
