What is your "go to" pod cast app?

In that case, don’t check Custom Sorting on the main settings menu. Just pick any podcast and sort on publication date and it will arrange all podcasts in that same sort.

I’ve never turned it off so I don’t have a side by side comparison but I’ve never noticed anything alien or unnatural from having it on.

I recently asked a question about Apple Podcasts, Howl, and Stitcher that didn’t get any interest — http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=831233

Maybe I should re-title this thread to “Podcast Addict is just fine, it’s Doctor Jackson that is bug riddled”. In my defense, many of the settings are not very intuitive. Guess I still need a user manual for stuff…

Sorry, I don’t know anything about Apple Podcasts or Howl and I stopped using Stitcher once I realized I could get The Rachel Maddow Show on Podcast Addict. You sound like a real podcast power user. Do you have an android device? Have you considered Podcast Addict?:stuck_out_tongue:

The app is basically one guy’s pet project and I don’t know that he’s super skilled at UX design. I only know how to do these things because I spent a fair amount of time googling a year or so ago.

Podcast Addict does everything I need it to do, so I’m fine with it. I subscribe to Google Play Music, and tested the podcast functionality when it first came out. I liked it, but unless they have added the feature, there was no way to mark an episode as read.

CastBox on Android. Seems pretty solid.

Been a Stitcher guy from day one. Works fine with me!

I’m thinking about giving Pocket Casts a try, anyone used/using that one?. It’s not free, but only costs $3.99 and is extremely well reviewed.

Reviving to update: I got a new phone on Monday, and Pocket Casts has been starting on its own like a dream and the pausing issue is gone. So, maybe it’s not so much that Pocket Casts had an issue as that I had a crappy old phone (it’s been 3 years since I upgraded). Therefore, I need to revise my review and can now say that Pocket Casts works perfectly for me.

Okay, iOS 11 has absolutely killed Apple Podcasts app for me. I can’t freaking find anything any more.

I subscribed to Stitcher Premium for some of the paid content, and I’m trying that, but I don’t find Stitcher easy to use at all. I tried to make some playlists on the desktop, but you have to do all your editing in a tiny window. Fuck that.

While we’re updating, I decided to stay with Podcast Addict. Inner Stickler’s tips, plus a little digging on my own, solved all of the issues I was having. I’m quite pleased now!
