What is your ongoing opinion of the Affordable Care Act? (Title Edited)

Ted Cruz asked people on Facebook whether or not they were better off with Obamacare or not.

And the answers are…

I’m not sure what you think that demonstrates. A bunch of people voted “yes” and gave positive comments. Is that really a surprise? Are you really advocating that we take an internet poll seriously? Are you really advocating that your cite is an objective one?

ETA something more substantial: we’re in a thread on the internet about people’s opinions about Obamacare. Here’s a bunch of people responding to a question about their opinion of Obamacare, many of which offer supporting information (you’'ll note that a lot of them are happy because they had previously been denied insurance due to pre-existing conditions). It’s pretty directly on topic.

As for the rest of your questions, I’m failing to see where I said this is an objective cite that you should take as the end-all and be-all of data on popular opinion regarding Obamacare, so I have no idea what you’re on about.

I think the ACA discriminates against Republicans. They’re the only ones who ever seem to indicate in these polls that the law has negatively affected them.:dubious:

It demonstrates Ted Cruz is clueless about how social media works, and it blew up in his face. haHAH!

Well, I’ll admit to a touch of *schadenfreude * regarding Cruz’s assumed intentions in posting the poll but if it had just been a bunch of trolls saying “Yes, DUH” and offering up snark and abuse, I wouldn’t have bothered to link to it. The fact that so many of them actually explained how they were better off made it worth linking to. I’d rather have Cruz learn something about his constituents’ genuine healthcare insurance needs from it than just have him mocked for daring to ask the internet something.

Another thing it demonstrates is that Cruz may be so tightly shackled in his alternate-reality Obama-hating thought bubble that it truly hadn’t occurred to him that it was possible he’d get the response he did, that Obamacare really is pretty popular and getting to be more so.

Oh, OK. A cite called “Americans Against the Tea Party” is gleefully publishing a bunch of anecdotes about people who like the ACA. I would have never guessed!

I could post a link directly to Cruz’s Facebook page. Would that be better?

Here, John. Scroll down to March 24. He hasn’t even pulled it, at the moment anyway.

Take a look at the rest of the oppositionist platform there while you’re at it. Then come back and explain to us how they’re all the same down in DC, okay?

The LA Times reports that 9.5 Million previously uninsured have gained coverage under the ACA. This includes exchange policies, Medicare expansion and under 26 on family policies.

Also, 9 million (mostly previously insured) have purchased coverage directly from insurers instead of via an ACA exchange - including most of those who had non-ACA compliant policies cancelled.

We’re looking for net, not the normal churn in the market. Hey, 360 million jobs were created this year! It’s true, but doesn’t tell you anything.

According to Gallup, the uninsured rate is not below normal historical levels.

You would also think that 9.5 million happy customers would move the needle on the polls a little:

*Still *with the for/against, no other options stuff? Srsly? :frowning:

I wasn’t aware that the real world contained other options. Is there a bill Reid is bringing up for a vote changing the law?

It’s been explained to you patiently and frequently enough that, at this point, any lack of awareness is solely your own responsibility.

And btw:

You mean like this?

All Adults: 49% support, 48% oppose

More Americans support than oppose the law now according to this poll. I’d call that movement of the needle, wouldn’t you?

you’ve explained it, your explanation just doesn’t mean anything. Reid is not going to allow a vote on any changes. It actually is a take or leave it proposition.

Plus we don’t know what changes the voters want. You just blithely assume the changes voters want wouldn’t impact the law’s functioning.

Oh wow, one poll vs. all the others that show the opposite. Unless something changed in just a day or two, it’s an outlier.

But hey, if I’m wrong, Democrats will be very happy soon, and boasting about the law in their campaigns.

You’ll notice I didn’t bother to highlight the recent poll showing only 26% approval. When you’re confident of your position, you don’t need to jump on outlier polls for signs of hope.

Damn, you *really *can’t see any difference between “improve it” and “dump it”. Really! This isn’t just a silly word game, is it?

Wow.
