Things I’m disqualified from:
Bus driver
Forklift operator
Any sports position that’s expected to catch something
Cargo crane operator
Valet parking lot attendant
I may have 20/15 vision (I had a very good LASIK surgeon) but acuity doesn’t make up for an almost total lack of depth perception. I have absolutely no idea how far away a given object is from me, so anything involving precise placement or positioning from any more than arm’s reach would be an expensive comedy of <bam! crunch!> “Sorry!”
Parking a car is hard enough for me. I park by Braille, or as we called it in Chicago, Lincoln Parking. Either way, it works thusly: Start to pull into the spot slowly. Hit neighboring car. Stop and reverse, turning wheel to get closer into spot. Nudge other car. Stop and reverse… Repeat as needed to get one’s car fully into the parking spot. Hope other cars also have sturdy bumpers that won’t show scuffs from my car.
As for the other suggestions of waiter, teacher, cashier, etc “because people bug me” - that’s not a disqualification. That’s just “I don’t wanna do it!” I’ve been a fast-food drone and a supermarket checkout drone and a couple other fairly unpleasant jobs. I never, ever want to do them again, but I’m not unqualified to do them. Overqualified, certainly, but not incapable.
Anything that smells bad or includes body fluids.
Also teaching children or anything else that requires patience.
Or sweating.
you DRIVE into the spot? No wonder you suck at it! You have to back into a parallel parking spot. Seriously, you have much more control and do much less correcting and can get into tighter spots if you start out in reverse, then drive. Usually, you can get in good after backing in, then pulling up once, maybe back up again if it’s a small space.
