What jobs would you hate to do?

Fluffer

The other category would be anything like a Security Guard, just sitting all day doing nothing.

-Any job that entails outbound calling to generate business.
-Any job that requires cold call visits to generate business.
-Any commission based sales.
-Any job that entails cleaning a sink trap.
-Interior decorating. I have no clue about such things. “Yes, ma’am, I suggest that you paint it all eggshell. You’ll want to put in places for butts to rest, places for sleep to occur and places for drinks to be set down. And a TV. I’ll send you my bill.”

Hell, you’re a natural!

Sewage rinser in Kolkata. I could totally do without that experience on my CV!

Anything with sales or cold calling/contacting people. Anything where being smooth on the phone is important.

Roofing is my go-to “well, could be worse - I could be schlepping hot tar” when I complain about being hot.

I have been a Registered Nurse for 27 years and worked as a Nursing Assistant while in school getting that degree. I have spent my career working in the OR, Labor & Delivery and teaching at a Community College and now have a Masters in Education. In 2014 I wanted out of anything to do with nursing and was lucky enough to land a position where I can use my health care background in a totally different setting, and I have not been this happy career-wise in a long time.

Nursing Assisting is truly one of the worst jobs in the world. Lots of lifting without proper equipment on unrealistic time tables, and poo, poo, poo everywhere, all the time. The pay is so low that it is impossible to keep quality workers, so it is common for CNAs to fight and steal and engage in all manner of low-life behavior, and the people they are supposed to be caring for suffer the most. That is the #1 job I would never want to do again.

As for bedside nursing, that is my #2 job I will never do again. It is not the work, it is not the patients. It is the other nurses. Too much catty back-stabbing drama and miserable co-dependent folks who feel powerless to change their own situations, so they are determined to make everyone else miserable, too. I know you see this behavior everywhere in work places, but the nursing profession is eat up to the bone with it. Never again. I will stock shelves or wait tables before I wade back in that pond again.

NFL quarterback. Trying to throw a weirdly shaped ball 50 yards to a moving target while eluding 300 pound roided up maniacs who want to stop me into the ground… Not my idea of fun.

The job I always say I’m grateful isn’t mine when I see someone working it is roofing in the summer. Monotonous and in the hot sun.

Any job where I’d have to work more than 4 or 5 hours a day and not make decent money.

Usually mine.

Debt collection and/or telemarketing would be at the top of my list. I would go on welfare, sell crack, and do unspeakable things in the alley behind the bar before I took a job doing either of those things. Similarly, anything involving sales is right out.

I would last 30 seconds on a crabbing vessel before I lost my lunch.

In Thailand, a lot of places have guys in the men’s room who will give you a shoulder massage while you’re peeing in the urinal. No, these are not gay bars, and it’s not a gay thing. It’s just something they do, but I never could get used to it. I always tried politely to decline. That is not a job I would like to have.

EDIT: Heh, the first time I ever encountered this, I had no idea what was going on. Talk about freaking out.

Hmm. The OP has been banned. I wonder whom he was a sock for.

When I saw thread title, what popped into my mind was a headline almost a half-century ago from the Berkeley Barb:
Don’t tell my mother I’m a White House aide; she thinks I’m the piano player in a whore-house.
