wring, I have no idea. It kind of looks like it’s based on something some military outfit or another might have worn… or a some marching band. I’ve seen it incorporated into comic book outfits at different times. I think I’ve even seen Adam Ant wear one like it in a video. I admit, I’ve always kind of liked the style and would like to know if it has a name.
I have no idea want kind of shirt that is but I want a few! If you guys find out where you can buy them, let me know!
It seems to be copied from an ancient US Cavalry uniform. If you can’t find one in any stores, try the tailors that sell to Civil War reenactors. They routinely crank out copies of old uniforms. The huge placket seems to have been for keeping the wind and bugs out of the shirt while riding fast on a horse.

I’ve always thought they were cool looking, too. I found some here - they call them “bib” shirts.
Not quite the same thing. The other shirt had a wider crest on the front and IMHO looked better. But thanks for the link anyway.
Nenno - did you look further down the page? There were more shirts than just the one at the top. There was a “Long Horn bib” that looks like the ones Steven Frost wears and a “cavalry bib.”
This may be called a “bib” shirt, now, but I believe that it was originally known as a “shield shirt” although it might also be called a cavalry officer’s blouse.

I do not like the name “bib shirt”. Hell no, when people ask me what kind of shirt I am wearing, I will tell them it is a shielded shirt like tom says. That way I will not sound like such a wuss.

I used to have a shirt like that…I dunno what happened to it, tho.
