What kind of career will Josh Radnor have post HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER?

Ding Ding Ding. That was exactly my thoughts.
Now, what’s Zack up to these days? He hangs out with his best buddy Turk on a oddly regular basis. Zach Braff

First, I think Alyson Hannigan has Colbie Smulders beat six ways from Sunday. She plays down her looks on the show, when she does herself up like a model she is stunningly beautiful and sexy, while Smulders is at best a well crafted mannequin.

I’ve never seem Radnor in anything else, but I’d be surprised if he can be anyone but Ted Moseby. I expect a failed series or two before he settles in as a director as silenus says.

You might enjoy happythankyoumoreplease, which he also wrote/directed/starred in, and which earned him an award at Sundance.

(Tooooootally different tone, though.)

So IOW, a Canadian version of Gemma Arterton?

Hannigan can “do herself up like a model”, but Smulders would still look like a model even if she was wearing nothing but a potato sack. She’d just look like a model in a potato sack while Hannigan would look like an offensive Irish stereotype. Which is not to say Hannigan isn’t attractive too. But I think a lot of her “attractiveness” comes from her nerd-cred as the American Pie band geek and especially her Joss Whedon work.

However Hannigan is actually pretty funny while Smulders is well-suited for roles that require a “well crafted mannequin” (sort of like her role in The Avengers as Nick Fury’s administrative assistant.)
I predict Josh Radnor will have a long career similar to Ron Livingston. Basically roles where you say “I sort of recognize that guy playing that everyman”.

That’s a better way of describing what I was getting at; HIMYM is sort of like Radnor’s “Office Space”, and we’ll see him in a lot of supporting roles / ensemble casts just like we do Ron Livingston. I think he’ll direct in there as well, although I don’t see him going fully into that role either;

I don’t see him being a big leading man in a lot of things- he’s a good supporting actor, more than a big-time comic actor like Segel.

I kind of wonder how long it’ll be before we start seeing Jason Segel take a more Tom Hanks / Robin Williams / Jamie Foxx kind of turn, and start doing serious roles. It’s bound to happen eventually I think.

Maybe. Maybe not. He’s got a place in anything Apatow does if he wants it, but I think he’ll move more into the producing end of the business. We’ll see him on-screen in fewer and fewer roles, but in the credits of bigger and bigger movies.

$158 million on a $45 million budget is a better return on investment than – well, to pick a bizarre comparison, Batman Begins, or Captain America, or Thor, or Man Of Steel. If he only ever does movies that likewise rake in better than 3.5x, I’d say that’s a win.

Ted Mosby is the Ross Geller of our times.

What does Bruce Campbell have to do with this?

Wrong Ashley.

Not only is Cobie Smulders a bad actress, I don’t even find her particularly good looking. Most of the actors/characters on HIMYM, in fact, suck donkey balls(characters more than actors). Except for Neil Patrick Harris and Barney. He single handedly takes a show that would have been godawful and makes it watchable. I still skip most of the parts when the married couple are talking though.

…it’s starting to get creepy guys.
(although Hannigan was looking a little jowly in the few minutes of the season premiere that I watched)

Anyway… indie films for Radnor until in a decade he gets cast as a detective on a new cop drama.

She’s going to work for decades more. She’s the next Betty White.

“Kids, let me tell you the story of how I solved your mother’s murder…”

I guess the Radnor to Zach Braff comparison is a natural. I was thinking the same thing. We joke that Ted Mosby must actually be JD’s half brother. Right down to the Appletinis. He also has become geekier and less aware of sports as the show has moved along like JD.

They really are very similar actors with similar characters. He’s 39 already so I predict a few minor movie roles and a few failed sitcom attempts and eventually something will hit for him again.

As to Colbie Smulders, I am not getting the hotness. Never really saw it and still don’t. She is pretty and pleasant looking but nothing exceptional. (by Hollywood standards of course)
