For the first time, I have a cellphone that is expensive and shiny enough to warrant a case. (LG VX8560 Chocolate 3 flip phone). My previous ones were cheap phones with matte plastic exteriors. It seems there are 3 kinds of cases: leather, hard plastic and silicone. Which kind works best? There aren’t enough reviews on any of the cases to judge them by those. The leather ones look nice, but they cost more and they add more bulk. Do the hard plastic snap-on cases work well enough?
My SO has a hard plastic snap on case on his HTC HD2 and it seems to be OK.
I have a Motorola Cliq (hate it) and I have a case made out of some stuff that isn’t really silicone, but isn’t hard, either. I don’t know what to call it - it’s soft, but slick, if that makes any sense. Silicone attracts pet hair, IME, and I wanted something with a little grip. I most often drop things like phones when they slip out of my hands, so a little grip is ideal for me. Mine cost about $9 shipped from either Amazon or eBay.
I have a snap on case for my Kin. I like it a whole lot but I had to call tech support the other day and right away they were like, “Take out the battery.”
Just try getting them back OFF. I did it, but it took quite some time and was very frustrating. I could probably do it fairly quickly now but that first time is a PITA. So, if you go that route, my advice is to figure out the best way to take it back off right away so you know how to later when you really need to.
