They act like they have driving record information but who knows for sure?

I don’t know about today, but 30 years ago they could bring up your driving record on a computer in court. Doesn’t mean they always do, and this may not apply to all courts (state court vs. county, various districts, etc.). I was in traffic court once in 1974.

30 years ago! That means by now they can probably tell what I had for lunch the day before upon entering the court house.

Pretty much the same information. I suspect they have the same information that the police officers get when they call in your drivers licence number at a traffic stop.
