That is one of the native varieties of Hibiscus (well, native to the South East United States). Otherwise known as Hibiscus coccinea (most likely)

yep, Hibiscus coccineus, Scarlet Mallow. You may not need to root it, they seed in pretty well the next spring.
Because of the leaves being similar to cannabis, the horticultural joke name is “Mallowanna”.
