i have checked out islands off new england. some are around 100 thousand plus to 500 thousand dollars. these are islands with homes on them. they are mostly vacation houses used during the summer months.
getting emerg. medical care would be a big concern esp. late at night and during a bad storm.
security concerns would be someone getting on the island and physically attacking and no speedy help or warning.
I am not even close to rich or could even dream of having my own island, but if I did . . . there would be nothing there of any true value to me, just seculsion. The people that did happen on my happy acre would just be counted on as “the local color” and as such would be a welcome diversion from the people I was trying to get away from. You know the type, corporate raiders, stock brockers, Martha Stewart and such … the people you really want to avoid.
