What law was broken here? (Pitt baby pictures)

Local police, accompanied by state police and Secret Service officers, went to the Westfield home of William Keys on Tuesday to recover a digital camera’s memory stick after three photos that appeared on the Internet were tracked to Keys, police said Friday.

What exactly gives the local, state, and Secret Service officers the right to seize a camera with pictures of this couple, that were taken in Africa? By this standard, can police now seize the cameras of all tabloid magazines? What’s going on here? There must be more to this story that’s not mentioned in the linked article.

I saw this and wondered the same thing. I don’t see how pictures snapped in another country (or any country, really) can be illegal, unless they were possibly pornographic. Or if a law was broken in order to get the pics. I’m baffled.
