What "lost" Christmas present would YOU like to find, years later

In National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Chevy Chase is trapped in the attic and finds a wrapped Christmas present that was hidden and forgotten.

So, if you were rummaging around in your attic and found a wrapped present from decades ago - what would YOU like to find?

Two rules: Not something that would have been expensive originally. Otherwise we’d all think of a diamond/gold pin / expensive wristwatch - etc. And not something that you’d want to resell because the collectors have gone crazy over it. (No Superman #1) - although if it is something you’ve always wanted for yourself that is OK.

I’ll start off the picks with one of the common Marx train sets. Just something to go around the tree.

One of those cheapo electric guitar and amp combos from the Sears catalog.

I always always always wanted a peddle car - like those little police cars. I never asked my parents for one because I just assumed they were really expensive - because it’s a car, right? A peddle car is still a car to a 3/4/5 year old. Years later I told my Mum who said ‘you should have said something. They’re cheap!’.

I was THAT GOOD as a child.

An electric slot car race track set. Damn those were cool!

I will mostly second your train set. But mine would be Lionel. Indeed, when I was six or so my parents gave me such a set and we set it up around the tree each Christmas for years. The basic set grew bigger each year. At some point the whole kit and kaboodle was given away. I don’t remember being upset about it but I would sure like to find that old set boxed up in my attic.

A play kitchen with a sink, stove, and fridge. I always circled those in the Sears Christmas catalog.

Wouldn’t mind finding a 70s era GI Joe or two, or any of the peripheral toys, still in the original packaging. Would fetch a nice return on eBay.

Got that present - still have it.

I would want a Thingmaker set, with goop and everything. That I no longer have. Wish I still did. (this was the set I had)

The one big toy I always wanted but never got. (AT-AT.) (Okay, one of two—but I’m not nostalgic for a GI Joe aircraft carrier.)

Alternate choice, an original Grimlock.

My Fireball XL-5 toy.
It vanished mysteriously one day from the living room, & I never saw it again.

That looks like it would really hurt to step on in the middle of night.

My Velvet doll with growing hair. What I really wanted was my own long hair, but it was not meant to be (my hair grows out, not down).

How about a collection of vintage Star Wars characters?!

You know, the kind I used to light with matches to melt their faces.

And the Millennium Falcon!

A gift for me misplaced by my father.

Whoa! Also looks amazingly like the Rocket-Boat Lee Taylor committed suicide in, as far as I can recall. I remember the day well.

Checking in again.

An packet of Christmas cards from the 1950’s. Just to see the difference in designs.

(Can it be THAT many decades ago? Sigh.) A (my size) polyester leisure suit including a shirt that has the enormous collar ends and an op-art necktie that is about 6" wide. “Kids, this used to be the height of fashion.”

A Betamax VCR.

Do you have any movies? I may have a machine, if it survived the last purge.

I would love to browse a sears Christmas catalog again c 1974

Ask and ye shall receive.
