What members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have you seen live?

I was in the parking lot at Crosley Field one Sunday in 1966, waiting with my parents for my sister. i guess i kinda heard the music. I know I heard the screams. Can I claim the Beatles?

I’ve been to hundreds of shows over the decades, I really thought my list would be longer, but I tend to see many smaller/cheaper/alternative acts, and of course missed out on all those I was too young to see in their prime . I suspect that when the RRHOF catches up with the influential acts of the 1990s (like Sonic Youth, or The Pixies), I’ll see my list rapidly grow.

Alice Cooper
Heart
The Ramones
Nirvana
Parlaiment Funkadelic (if you can count various George Clinton P-Funk spinoffs and incarnations)

Eric Clapton
Neil Young
Cream
Jeff Beck

Hall & Oates

Chet Atkins
The Band

Sorry, McGuinn’s not in the Hall of Fame

but I saw the Byrds in '69. I didn’t list them.

And I left off Joni Mitchell. :smack:

More than I might have imagined:

Bob Dylan
Alice Cooper
Ike & Tina
Santana
Led Zep.

  • Anyone else who I might have missed in the drug-induced haze of the Seattle Pop Festival.

Kinda lame, I’m sure, considering some of the lists that have been compiled.

But wait: how many of you have had KISS watch you play? Or Jesse Colin Young?

Of course, in regards to KISS, I had to be informed by the lead guitar player after the gig who those guys were who came in late to the Central Tavern in Seattle and hung out till about closing time.
Jesse came into the club we were playing after his gig ended and watched us play country-rock tunes for an hour or so. I wish he had said “Can I sit in for a few tunes?” Probably wanted to kick back and relax, but I wish one of us had said "Jesse Colin Young is here tonight, folks. Should we ask him if he would give us the pleasure of a song? Man… coulda’ happened, but didn’t.:smack:

The Rolling Stones
The Who
Van Morrison
Grateful Dead
Elton John
Roger Waters (solo doing DSOTM, so I’m counting him!!!)
Fleetwood Mac
Billy Joel
James Taylor
Queen
Neil Diamond
Heart
Rush
Linda Ronstadt

Not as many as I would have thought but a respectable number!!!

I’m not much of a concert guy, but I’ve seen:

Aerosmith, Van Halen, Metallica and KISS. I also saw Page/Plant when they toured a a couple decades ago, performing Led Zeppelin songs, but I know they aren’t technically Led Zeppelin.

Almost saw Nirvana and the Beastie Boys, but I suppose almost doesn’t count in “What concerts have you seen?” threads.

All before induction, except for Tina:

The Kinks
The Who
Tina Turner
Billy Joel
Bruce Springsteen
The Police
R.E.M.
Metallica
Genesis
Peter Gabriel

Billy Joel
Ray Charles (on his last tour before he died)
Aerosmith
Metallica

I honestly thought I’d seen more than that.

Bo Diddley (unsure)
Bob Dylan (before & after)
The Rolling Stones (after)
The Kinks (before & maybe after)
The Who (before & after, I think – Townshend, Daltrey & Entwistle)
John Lee Hooker (before)
The Yardbirds (after – sans Clapton, Beck & Page, obviously)
The Doors (well, actually “The Doors of the 21st Century” – Manzarek & Krieger)
Grateful Dead (before, and “The Dead” after)
Neil Young (after)
David Bowie (before)
Paul McCartney (after)
The Ramones (before)
Talking Heads (before)
Elvis Costello & The Attractions (before)
Patti Smith (before)
Dr. John (unsure – it was very close to the time he got in)
Donovan (before)
Randy Newman (before)
Peter Gabriel (before)

Also I think I saw Buddy Guy once.
