Nevermind. I found the link that does into detail.
A friend of mine in high school came up with this one to remember the geometry formulas for sine, cosine, and tangent:
Some Old Hens
Cackle And Howl
Til Old Age
Some Old Hens -> Sine = Opposite / Hypotenuse
Cackle And Howl -> Cosine = Adjacent / Hypotenuse
Til Old Age -> Tangent = Opposite / Adjacent
I can’t think of any I’ve invented at the moment, but when my kids are trying to study for tests, I can usually come up with something rude which helps them remember.
I vividly recall Grandma teaching us to spell occupy: “Oh see, see! You pee! Why?”
What’s almost as much fun as coming up with neat phrases to remember difficult sequences by, is taking simple and easy to remember things and making complicated mnemonics for them.
Example: STOP
Skid Tires On Pavement
Shouldn’t Tease Our Policemen
It gets even worse when acronyms for good old Anglo-Saxon words are invented:
Found Under Carnal Knowledge
And I have been debating whether to share my PIN for my bank card which, for some bizarre reason, I remember better as a phrase than as a 4-digit number.
Betty’s A Crummy Floozie
We used the Native American sounding name: Sohcahtoa (So-ca-tow-a)
