I’d make the same mistakes, only sooner.*This tickled my noggin, so I ask you: what mistakes would you make sooner if you could live your live over again? Why?
I would’ve been at least a little bit wild in High School and had sexual experiences earlier than as a college Junior.
I’ll second Hazle, word for word. Spooky!
I’ll just add this: the mechanism for such an achievement would be something which is a good thing to learn for MANY important endeavours in life, not just sex: that it’s OKAY TO BE REJECTED. In fact, if you let more than a few days go by where someone doesn’t reject you for something, then you’re not trying hard enough.
I would have failed miserably at something sooner, instead of being terrified of failure for so long. Once it happened, I realized that it wasn’t the end of the world I had supposed it would be, and that I didn’t have to be perfect for people to love me. It also caused me to develop an identity based on something other than achievement.
Realized I screwed up the modeling for my Data Analysis take home exam earlier in the week, vs the day it’s due.
Now I’m frantically reworking it. Glad I took today off from work!
None. They all came just in time.
Hindsight is 20/20 because I made all those mistakes and learned from them.
I second Creole Tomato. I’m way too old to be learning that essential lesson, and have too few opportunities to benefit from it in the years I have ahead of me.
Thirded with Hazle. It all turned out really well in the end, but I’ll always be a little sad at how straight-laced I was for H.S. and the first couple years of college, and the experiences that I missed because of it.
I’ll second this.
As a guy, learning that being rejected was not horribly humiliating/the end of the world was key.
Also, learning to approach women so as to let them know that you were not going to be upset or embarrased if they reject you is also key - discovering how to signal ‘I’m into you, if you are into me - if not, no biggie’.
Wish to hell I’d known how to do that before I was 20.
I’m with Hazle Weatherfield and Kiros: I would have had a lot more fun when I was young and pretty if I’d known I was going to be old for this long. I’d have smoked pot sooner too.
