I just saw an advert on the El Rey Network announcing “The world network premiere” of Men In Black, and it seems to me that MiB has been on just about everywhere but The Weather Channel…and I wouldn’t put hard cash that it hasn’t been there, too. Does it hold the record for being on the most channels, or are there other contenders?
“It’s A Wonderful Life” is the first movie that comes to mind (because of copyright issues in the '80s).
I know it has been on a lot, but I think it has just been the same networks over and over again.
The Harry Potter movies have been on everywhere, I wish they would just quit showing them for few years.
Are we counting all over the world, or the US only?
Because I think it may have been on TV in Birmania, that one…
Other contenders include the original Star Wars trilogy and Gone With The Wind.
The Wizard of Oz has been shown on CBS, NBC, the WB, TCM, TNT, TBS and Cartoon Network.
I’d guess Sound of Music and Gone With the Wind are up there as well, but I’m too lazy to research tem right now.
Shawshank Redemption is what came to my mind first, and this website says it’s been on 15 networks.
I’d say Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid has to be there somewhere. A couple of months ago, I saw it on This TV, a free over-the-air broadcast network.
No doubt on the ABC, BBC, and CBC networks as well. Probably a bunch of others.
The only network I’ve ever seen It’s a Wonderful Life on is PBS.
I’ve seen it on TBS when it was in the public domain. And colorized, too, since that was Ted Turner’s gimmick in those days.
By ABC, I meant the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Has it really never been shown on ABC in the United States?
It’s a Wonderful Life is now a holiday tradition on NBC. I usually watch at least part of it every year.
It’s a Wonderful Life is what I came here to say as well. Also Night of the Living Dead has copyright issues and airs on a lot of networks.
I grew up watching Star Wars(all 3) on TV all the time. I believe most of that was on the USA network, though.
