What movie prop would you like to own (and not sell for a profit)

If nobody else wants the Ruby Red slippers from the Wizard of Oz I’ll call dibs.

Damn things sold for $32.5M! I thought that they were in the Smithsonian.

I had an iconic red Swingline stapler like the one from Office Space for a while, but I left it to my successor when I retired. I wouldn’t mind having one from the actual movie.

I’d also like a golden ticket from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Wouldn’t take up much space.

I was going to say Bruce, but then remembered the mothership from CE3K

I’ve always admired Cary Grant’s suit in North by Nothwest, but it wouldn’t fit me.

Maybe the suit he finds in George Caplan’s room at the Plaza? He tries on the jacket and finds it’s too short. That one might fit me. Not nearly as famous though.

How about Johnny 5 from Short Circuit?

THE Time Machine. And not just a tiny model, but one you have to schlep up three flights of stairs because the elevator is broken. I don’t know if someone already has it.

One of the yellow barrels from Jaws. Or the Ark of the Covenant.

Awww, you just missed seeing it. There were countless incredible props here.

I’ve never really seen the attraction of owning movie props. That said I wouldn’t turn down the chance to have the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch sitting on my mantlepiece as a conversation piece

Actually, as pianos go, it’s tiny: 39 x 41 x 22 in.

I bought a very nice replica many years ago. At the time there were several available, some not too good, but I found one that is a very close match to the main prop used throughout the shoot. I’m sure you could probably buy one online easily these days.

The history of those props is quite convoluted.

Rosebud.

I didn’t miss it thankfully. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sneak the DB5 out under my shirt.

Mrs Bundy’s beret (the old ornithologist in The Birds). If I can’t have that, I’ll take an alethiometer from the TV program His Dark Materials, thanks.

That would be my pick as well.

I’m an 80s kid so mine are from the era. Predator self destruct armguard, Robocop pistol, Protonpack, Michael Keaton’s Batmobile. I don’t feel too strongly about Star Wars props though I’m a fan. Edit: some of the rare toys would be cool, though.

Awesome, me too, I think we talked about it at the time.

The Lament Configuration from the Hellraiser movies.

David Carradine’s hat from The Long Riders.

The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch would look cool on my shelf, but I would rather have the Holocaust Cloak. I’d wear that sucker EVERYWHERE.

The iocane goblets from The Princess Bride, or the sword made for the six-fingered man that Inigo uses.

The Sorting Hat from the Harry Potter movies.
