What movie scenes will you stop and watch at 3AM?

One of my absolute top choices!

  • I’m doomed if I see a single frame of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I’m watching the rest of the movie to completion.
  • The mall car chase in Blues Brothers.
  • The mini car chase in The Bourne Identity.
  • The quintessential car chase of The French Connection.
  • Heck, any cleverly constructed car chase. Bonus points for unconventional cars or locales. They’re compelling in that I’d LOVE to drive like that.
  • The marketplace fight in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (where the guy in black with a scimitar gets all fancy, and Indy just shoots him)
  • The lobby fight in The Matrix
  • The church scene in The Graduate (for something without exploding cars or guns).
  • “Big Bottom” from This is Spinal Tap

Probably about a hundred more. This is why I don’t fall asleep with the TV on.

Ooo, I thought of more!

Sunset Boulevard. “No one leaves a star. That’s what makes one a star!” A close second is the scene where Norma goes to the movie studio, and everybody makes a big fuss over her.

Arsenic and Old Lace. The whole movie, really, but I will always stop and watch the big fight scene towards the end.

Young Frankenstein. “Puttin’ on the Riiiiitz!”

Or the statement by the defense lawyer “Atrocities are committed by normal men in abnormal situations.” Or something like that, I’m not a good quoter.

Any scene in The Princess Bride.

Any scene in **Young Frankenstein ** but especially the Frau Blucher and the horses scene. (I whinny along with the horses)

Probably any scene in Harvey as well.

I’ll agree with the previous Field of Dreams and **Fifth Element ** comments.

And I’ll add Jaws, the scene where Shaw, Schieder and Dreyfus are on Shaw’s boat and comparing their scars, then Shaw tells about his experience in WWII, chilling. Also the “bigger boat” scene.

Stand By Me, racing the train or the leeches.

I’ve yet to see any LOTR movies on at 3am but if there were it wouldn’t matter which scene was on, I’d likely watch the whole thing.

That’s all I can think of right now.

I second A Few Good Men. “You can’t HANdle the truth!”

Also the scene in **Trading Places ** when Dan Ackroyd and Eddie Murphy pretend to meet on the train. "Lionel Joseph! Boo- boo ya, boo- boo ya, boo-boo ya, ha!

Pretty much any scene from either of these two movies, and anything from a John Hughes movie.

If Jaws or Tremors is playing, I will pretty much watch it from anywhere till the end.
Others:
Star Trek II: the battle in the Motara Nebula.
Matrix: the fight to free Morpheus from the agents and anything after that to the end.
Heat: the bank robbery/shootout scene
Ronin: the car chase
