What music instruments do you play and for how long?

I have been playing piano for more than twelve years, since the age of 13. I also began composing my own music almost immediately after that. I taught piano for about a year and am now focusing on playing in orchestras for musical theatre productions, weddings, hotels, restaurants, and promoting my solo CD entitled Midnight Story, which consists of original piano compositions.

Jpeg Jones, very impressive, keep it up! Nerrie, it’s never too late.

Besides fooling around with the piano, and thereby learning how to read music, my first instrument was the flute, which I started in 4th grade. I’ve played that for 9 or so years now. I’ve played with the West Coast Symphony.

I started singing tenor in 9th grade, 4 years ago, and I’ve been in classical choruses and sing with the local opera company.

I finally took piano lessons last year, and had to unlearn much of the technique I taught myself over the years.

Now I’m trying to pick up clarinet as a seque to the oboe, which is probably my second favorite instrument. (First being flute.)

Now I’m at university as a music major, and I can’t decide what I want to emphisize- voice or flute. I would do both, except I’m already declaring physics as a double-major. I guess for now I’m just going to continue taking theory and musicology at school, but sing and play in my groups I already have.
