Lots of sociology papers show that books, movies, and TV shows have a big influence on what baby names will suddenly spike in popularity. The name of my least favorite character on Game of Thrones is being given to a lot of little girls right now, for example.
So…what names would you like to see in an as-of-now-unwritten work of fiction that would someday make the top 20 baby names? And what kind of character do you see this name being given to? (personality and psychical characteristics, genre of story and/or basic plot of the work they’d be in etc.)
Give as many examples as you like.
Minor typo fixed in the title.
I’ve been binge-reading Questionable Content lately, and I have to admit I really like the name Hannelore.
Just slightly off-topic: I’m not sure I’ve seen a lot of names from Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings getting really popular in the years since those books/movies came out. I’d have thought there would be a lot more. Have I been missing something?
ETA: OTOH, Bible names from the Old Testament always seem to be rotating in and out of fashion. Jared, for example is an O.T. name that’s gotten popular again.
Yes, though Daenerys is also a newly popular baby name.
So, anyway, back to people’s names they’d like to see given to people both fictional and real
Ah I knew a woman named Hannelore. Her mother is German and I assumed it was a family name. She was called Yoha and died of breast cancer maybe 15 years ago, leaving three young children. I would not use that name.
