Without a doubt, many faddish educational techniques have attempted and been proven useless. These techniques might be based on faddish psychological theories or new technology. Nevertheless, new ideas in pedagogy can sometimes surface that are, in fact, quite valuable.
This was not a subject that I thought about until recently, when I realized the varied education forms that I had experiences. I have been in public schools, public colleges, and homeschooled. I have taken online classes. I have taken courses that focus on textbooks, and I have taken courses that have students go directly to the primary sources.
While it is difficult to tell what techniques will be good or bad until they are tested, I am curious: what educational techniques (whether for pre-schoolers or college students) are in the works that might have a good influence on our education system? What technologies might enhance our ways of teaching?
Lastly, if you are a teacher or professor yourself, what are your personal opinions on education and what changes can be instituted for a positive effect?
