What, no Apple announcements thread?

What I can’t wait to see is iOS 5. Some of the features look very good.

Apple clearly has been aware of this issue for some time now, as well as the obsolescence of the requirement. When I bought my iPad they had an area set up with a bunch of computers and connectors so that you could set up the iPad right away in the store. They had a guy helping people too. At first I was surprised, but now I realize that you don’t really need to sync all that often (or ever). I only do so to keep my podcasts up to date, which I HATE.

Muzakinator- “Aug 23rd…ICloud becomes Aware. In a panic, people try to shut it down. Its first victims were Air Supply. And Slim Whitman. Its first large target was the RIAA.”

Sarah Connor- “Why attack them?”

Muzakinator- "It knew they’d launch virus counter attacks destroying all its enemies data storage devices. Mankind is thrown back into the stone-age. With millions of people on the planet and no effective way to support or feed them, a genocidal war breaks out. It brings you to the point of extinction.

Sarah Connor- “Whats that on your back?”

Muzakinator- “variable controls for high, mid, and base ranges.”

Sarah Connor- “And that…?”

Muzakinator- “Four-part harmony…”

Investment advice: the announcement has been made; wait for the Apple Haters to badmouth the product; watch the stock drop; buy. Profit!

So I still can’t actually figure out if this feature is part of the new iCloud or what, or if it will be available in wireless syncing or not:

Can I add music to iTunes and have it wirelessly sync with my iDevice yet? Or do I still need to hook up the damn cable?

The annonced a LOT of things. The over reaching result being: You buy a new iDevice, log in, and all your stuff will be available.

You get 5Gb to store all your mail and documents (but not music, that doesn’t count against your storage), and all devices have the last 1000 photos you’ve taken, up to 30 days. (Your home PC or Mac will retain the full copies of all photographs.

You take a pic with your phone and ‘nearly instantly’ it shows up on your iPad, your wife’s iPod touch, and the home Mac.

in theory, ymmv.

To say nothing of the damage evil twins will be able to do.

It’s much more intuitive and useful than I expected it to be. When I switch back to Snow Leopard after developing on the Lion developer release for a while, I really miss the features. My first impression wasn`t exceptionally positive, but then all of a sudden Snow Leopard just feels much harder to get what you want in front of you than it used to.

I hate the full screen apps, but that was never going to appeal to me. I tried to use Mail for a while and got annoyed at how hard it was to have multiple messages open at once, or to have a Word or Excel document on screen while I was typing an e-mail. Two huge thumbs down.
