What non-religious alternate earth theories do YOU believe in?

So do any of you believe in any alternate earth theories, such as aliens/demons/gods in Antarctica, flat earth, ‘blockaded’ earth quarantined by aliens, fake NASA(s) ‘godly’/higher-dimensional aliens that directly interact with humans, or similar? I am genuinely curious here, not trying to deliberately attack other groups or anything.

What do you think of antarctica theories like this one or another one here. I mean, I haven’t really done any research, but at first glance, they DO seem to cite accurate sources and be relatively sensible.

The other thing that got me interested is that the videos have actually a very good like-to-dislike ration, many having far more likes than dislikes, while agreeing commentators in the comments section have more than 100+ likes, with few disbelievers.

I mean, I as myself does not believe in aliens or demons hiding under Antarctica, or that the earth is flat, but I do think they are interesting and sometimes I would like to imagine that they were real, because that sort of mysterious earth would be much more ‘fun’ and interesting, to actually have real mystical creatures more powerful than stars (?) in our own planet, right under our feet, instead of just the boring “some chemicals and gases sploshed around for billions of years and then here we are!”, which IMO is rather bland and pointless. I mean, if there were actually creatures on OUR planet and ONLY our planet that were responsible more creating the whole universe, then that must mean we must be at least reasonably important or have at atleast some real meaning, instead of just the byproduct of a set of circumstances that we could never control or interact with.

Not really a GQ question, but, personally I believe in the many-universes interpretation of quantum physics or many worlds theory I suppose. Why? 'cause I wanna, that’s why! :stuck_out_tongue: When I was in college it was one of the more compelling subjects I studied, and has always just sort of facinated me. I’ve written a number of short stories (fiction of course) concerning it, and just always found it fits in with my own world view.

The Earth is an instantaneous object … it has no past and it has no future … it just is … nothing more, nothing less … since it requires the passage of time to explain this, and since time does not exist, this belief is inexplicable …

Regret is of the past, which doesn’t exist, thus we have no regrets … Worry is of the future, which don’t exist, thus we have no worries … only the present has meaning, only the present exists … you’ve read too far now and your time has expired … NEXT !!!

Since the OP is asking for personal opinions, let’s move this to IMHO.

It is possible aliens exist, but who knows what they are. People just assume they are life forms from within the galaxy. If aliens exist maybe they are from a parallel reality. Maybe they are from another dimension. Maybe our primate brains can’t even fathom what they are or where they come from.

It’s possible that invisible elephants living in my basement are responsible for my lost socks. Maybe they’re not really elephants, but mastodons. Maybe they don’t actually live in my basement, but in my neighbor’s attic, and just come over here occasionally. Maybe, maybe, maybe. These maybes are pointless when there’s no evidence for the existence of these elephants (or aliens) in the first place.

I think under the ice and snow of Antarctica is “something”. What I dont know. But it does look like it wasnt always such a cold area and someday we will get under the ice and find some interesting things.

Yes, of course there’s “something” under the ice. How could there not be? And we already know a lot about it. Ice-penetrating radar has revealed much of the underlying geography. We know, for instance, that there are many lakes buried under the ice, including Lake Vostok containing 1300 cubic miles of liquid water, the sixth largest lake in the world. We know much about the geography of the continent and a fair amount about its geological history. There are plenty of interesting things to learn about our current knowledge of Antarctica, without waiting until we can get under the ice.

Another “many worlds” idea is that there are immense swaths of space, opened up during the expansionary phase of the big bang, outside of our light-cone. Our observed cosmos is only a tiny bubble in this vast foam, and all the other bubbles might be just like ours…or slightly different…or vastly different.

And if “runaway inflation” is real, then there are more and more and more of these seas of foam coming into existence.

Worlds of space, time, and “if!”

Why not just read science fiction and let professionals do the imagining for you?

What, buy science fiction and support all those deadbeat science fiction authors? No way, dude.
