What odd things have you noticed in common about all your friends?

I can’t think of a common characteristic among my friends. I can however come up with one for my husbands friends. They have been friends for more than 20 years and are still sneaking off into the woods to get stoned together.

All of my girlfriends, including the woman I married, have been complete tee-totallers. None of them would ever drink a drop of alcohol. They simply didn’t like the taste.

Most of my friends are the youngest kids in their families.

It’s not odd, but all my friends are irreligious, agnostic or atheist. In any case, no one goes to church. It seems most dopers have friends who have much more diversity in religious beliefs than myself. All my friends drink, some of us probably too much. This is also not that odd.

I tend to have friends that are huggers. Among my good friends it is considered the norm to greet with a hug and/or a kiss and lots of physical contact when we hang out.

Huh. I suppose my friends have that in common as well. I can’t think of a single friend who is strictly religious - most of us are some form of fallen-away Catholic, the rest are agnostic/atheist.

My mother chooses, at random and various times, to note either that all of my friends are either rich or riff-raff.

I guess it depends on her mood.

 Reminds me of an argument my sister and I had. We fought over who got to sit up front when Mom picked us up from Grandma’s. Mom finally split us up - her on odd days, me on even.

“Ha-ha,” I said, “you’re odd!”

“Yeah, well, you’re even odder!”

Me: :smack:

That’s still one of the wittiest things she has ever said.

I noticed during some point in my teens that I am attracted to very loud people (both as friends and romantically). Not loud physically, I mean loud in personality. The sort of people that are either loved or hated, but can’t be ignored either way.

It’s an interesting contrast, because I’m generally quiet, relaxed, and fade into the background.

This can be problematic, of course - my grandparents love my husband to pieces, but I’m pretty sure that for some reason my father thinks that he’s emotionally abusing me, though I can’t get a direct answer as to why he thinks that I would put up with that.

My friends all like long car trips. Would never fly anywhere unless they are short of time, such as for funerals, and even then they may just drive all night instead.

Can’t really think of anything ALL my friends have in common (other than that they all like me, for some weird reason) but I did notice awhile back that I have only ever dated men who were either Aquarians or Cancers. I have no idea how that worked out that way, as I often didn’t know a guy’s birthday until a few dates in.

(The husband is an Aquarian, but just barely - he’s right on the Pisces cusp.)
