What Olympics stuff are you psyched for?

You’re obviously fact checking to ensure quality reporting.

I loves me some biathalon, but they usually show it when I’m at work. After that, Ski jumping!

Hockey
Curling
Speed Skating
Any downhill skiing, I just can’t get to excited about cross-country.

I always though they should combine the ski jump with snow shoeing. The jumper has to run down that hill really fast!

Or combine the luge with the biathalon. Those luge guys are some pretty fast-moving targets.

Curling for sure!! As much as I might hate to say it, as one who likes fighting for all the hockey, Women’s Hockey is the greatest. I think it is actually the fact that checking is illegal taht opens the game up(not to mention the bigger olympic rink) to more passing more finess and more enjoyment.
Also, lets go short track!!
Was just talking to the MRS. about how I can’t stand fig. Skating anymore. It’s just a ‘who makes less mistakes’ contest.

I’m really looking forward to the Ice Judo competition.

I have to admit, I love the Olympics in all its forms. I make it my goal every year to see at least one competition of each sport. Yes, even figure skating.

In the winter, I’m particularly fond of the bobsled sports and the downhill skiing. Speed, baby! And I’m looking forward to curling as well. King Kaufman at Salon (subscription req., or watch an ad) reports on the efforts of the D.C Olympic curling team to get recognized.

Curling! Hockey! Figure Skating! GO TEAM CANADA!

Closing ceremonies and an end to reruns of my favorite TV shows.
Sorry…never been a big Olympics guy.

Luge. Luge! LUGE!!!

Team sports have never been my thing. Can’t get my brain around the football.

But someone speeding down an ice pipe at 90mph? That I can get my brain around! Man I want to do that so badly, at least once, even if I kill myself doing it. And I like the biathlon and downhill and … ok I like it all. I love the winter olympics!

Luge

When I was young they seemed like they were a big event. Now they seem rather common-place and I’m just not that interested.

They still feel big to me, though since they Olympics take place every second year now instead of every fourth, it’s not quite the same thing. Of course, winter olympics is only every fourth year.

But it’s really more the international gathering that interests me rather than the sports themselves, even though I really enjoy watching luge, bob sleigh and figure skating.

Just watched the first runs. I never paid attention to luge until the mid-'80s, when I saw some footage of some guys doing ‘skate luge’. (From the news story, it seems that these were the first guys to do it – or at least the first to get coverage. Someplace near L.A.) The thing that gets me about luge is that you go down on your back. Just seems ‘wrong’ – you should go head-first on your belly! Definitely something I’d like to try (rather on ice than asphalt) if I ever got the chance.

Anything dangerous. Anything where there’s a chance for an “agony of defeat” moment.

That’d be skeleton. Dave also wants to try it. Cool with me, he’s got life insurance.

Various Snowboarding events - they’ve got a new one this year, which sounds interesting.
Curling - because our teams are last year’s winners and top seeds repectively.
Aerial Skiiing ( I think it’s called that ) - looks incredibly difficult.
Speed Skating
Luge
Ice Hockey

I’d forgotten about that. I’d like to do it with one of those flaming helmets they used in the Opening Ceremonies.

The Closing Ceremonies.

I enjoy almost everything except for figure skating, ice dancing, and the “extreme” sports.

I’m glad that NBC is using their other networks to show some of the other sports. Heck, maybe I can get through the whole Olympics without an “Up Close and Personal…” tear jerking story.
