What ONE name comes immediately to mind when you hear "1930's"?

Shirley Temple
But I guess that’s only because I just read about her dying last night.

And to think if he’d have said “for being the inspiration behind the name of the dance that gained popularity in the 30s” he’d have got away with it all.

Ray.
Oh no, wait…
(Well, someone had to do it)

For me the first thing that popped into my head was “Hoover Flags”. So I guess Herbert Hoover.

FDR

I thought I would have to quote my own post. I’m glad that I’m not the only one who thought of her.

It seems like we’ve lost a lot of great performers recently.

James Cagney

He’s a perfect combination of mobster & hollywood, with the musical talent thrown in.

Al Jolson

John Steinbeck, then Dorothea Lange.

Capone and Prohibition were the 1920s. Dillinger and Bonnie & Clyde were the '30s.

Churchill didn’t become Prime Minister until 1940. In the 1930s, he was out in the wilderness of British politics.

Bing Crosby

Roosevelt was the very first name that came to mind.

My Dad (born 1927) once told me that Roosevelt (long ooooo sound) was used as a curse word around his house.

Dillinger. Although it should have been FDR since I greatly admire him.

Hitler came first, followed by FDR and Joe Louis.

Hitler, the '30s being when he came to power.

Mussolini.

(Why him instead of Hitler I have no idea.)

Dorothy (Wizard of Oz)
