What online trading site do you recommend?

I have been searching but i guess i have no experience with this, i am just looking to get into it.

FIdelity, Sharebuilder, Scottrade, Etrade, and a couple others.

What have you guys liked?

I’ve only used AmeriTrade, but I have had an excellent experience with them so far. Their interface is a tad clunky and dated (they use frames; some things are a rather unattractive shade of green) but it works just fine.

Their options trading interface is not so intuitive, but I don’t trade options very often. Of course, that doesn’t matter if you’re only interested in equities.

I like Charles Schwab. You can trade stocks, mutual funds, etf’s, and some other products. There is also a research area for the items they sell. The trading online is pretty intuitive. I am impressed with their site.

I have used their support line several times to roll over an account and they have always been helpful and knowledgeable.

I have direct deposit from my check going in there. I like that Schwab is a bank as well as trader. I also have a check card there.

They just lowered their commission to $8.95/trade.

I like Scottrade. I’ve been using them for years for my personal stuff. I also have accounts with Smith Barney, Schwab and Vanguard for various reasons. I still use Scottrade by choice. Lower commisions, no-nonsense site, things just work. They’re the only brokerage I’ve dealt with that I haven’t had some problem with.

Tradeking is $4.95 per trade. I can’t speak to their options or fixed income interfaces, but the stock trading is perfectly acceptable and frankly I was willing to put up with an ugly webpage to save $5 per trade.

Seconded. Never a hassle, local offices where you can go talk to a human, fast access to your money.

What about in Canada? Any difference?
