What options are there in wireless mice with a usb-c dongle?

Those of you who bought an Aerox 3, like @puzzlegal and @Quintas … anyone having issues with the scroll wheel yet?

I’ve had mine for less than a year, but the scroll wheel kept getting worse and worse. If I scroll down too quickly, about 1 out of every 10 scroll notches would cause it to scroll up instead, which would cause the page to jitter up and down. At first I thought it was just a fluke — maybe my finger was placed weird or something — but the problem increased in frequency, and over the last few weeks it’s gotten noticeably worse and I can’t really use the scrollwheel anymore :frowning: This is the second SteelSeries mouse I’ve had with the same problem… I didn’t realize it was a pattern until now.

There are a bunch of people with similar problems on reddit, like:

And one who managed to fix it only by taking the mouse apart and replacing the “scroll encoder” with a better replacement part: Fixing Aerox 9 Scroll Jumping : steelseries

Sad. I asked SteelSeries about it, and at first they insisted it was a firmware problem and I had to jump through a few hoops to prove that it isn’t. They finally offered me an RMA replacement for the same mouse, but they require you to first destroy the existing one (rip it apart, breaking the buttons and taking a picture of the remains) before they’ll ship you a replacement, meaning you’ll be mouseless for several days. They don’t offer a repair service, only RMA replacements, and only if you first physically destroy your existing mouse.

Sadly, this left a pretty bad impression of their build quality and support overall… :frowning: It was an otherwise terrific mouse, but it seems like the scrolling issue is probably an inevitability, either a design defect or maybe a poor-quality scroll encoder component. Too bad.

Just providing this warning for anyone else who might’ve purchased one… watch out for any signs of scroll issues, let the company know ASAP, but have a backup mouse just in case.
