What other message boards would you recommend?

I’ll second bouv’s suggestion that you check out Something Awful, specifically their Serious Hardware / Software Crap forum. It’s a busy forum, with a lot of highly technical posters. The only caution is that they have a relatively low tolerance for newbies posting threads asking for information that already exists in one of the many megathreads, so I’d expect to do far more reading than posting. On the plus side, almost anything you can think to ask has probably been covered, making it a pretty useful resource.

I’ve been using these sites for years:

That’s for anything audio or video related. Huge database driven site. How to’s, manuals, freeware stuff, everything is user-rated, and a huge forum. Great for learning how to rip, convert, flashing hardware, which media works best/worst with specific model burners, it really does cover everything.

Anything and everything to do with the internet. I always thought the name was stupid but they’re sticking with it after all these years still. Cable, satellite, wireless, dial up, every type of hardware you can imagine, and massive amounts of help in the forums.

Thanks Dag Otto.

I haven’t been around the last few days. I will check the site out.

THREE DAMNED DAYS. . . so far. I’m only up to page 60 or so. Damn you, Gargoyle.

Thanks Dag Otto!

Those are great HVAC Forums
