What PC things today will be politically incorrect in the future?

I agree it’s in the process. My wife teaches elementary school and all the female teachers go by “Ms.”

Did you misspell “frisked” or “fisted”?

Also “Goodbye” when people are parting ways.

No, there will never be transgender toilets. There could be unisex toilets, for use by anyone regardless of gender. Especially if you’ve got two single-occupancy restrooms, there’s no logical reason to label one “men” and another “women”, since only one person at a time can use it. Do the bathrooms at your house have signs for men and signs for women? Or can men, women, children, and people at any point on the gender spectrum use the same bathroom?

I disagree. It is the concept of segregated bathrooms that will become politically incorrect. Single bathrooms are pointless to segregate and communal bathrooms all have stalls with doors. Nobody is walking around naked in there unless they’re an exhibitionist.

The only issue left is locker rooms with showers and I suspect we’ll get a whole lot less queasy about nudity, sooner rather than later. That or just put stalls around the shower heads.

I doubt one person in a hundred is aware of the etymology of that word, so probably not.

Heh.

Probably not, but the sentiment expressed in both phrases is almost exactly the same. It seems silly to inveigh against one form, and cheerfully accept the other. YMMV.

I agree, but we are talking about things that will happen rather than things that should happen, no?

Yeah, this is the direction activists are aiming - at some point, all variations on gendered names for bathrooms are probably going to be extinct or at least archaic. The idea of a bathroom for ‘men’ will elicit the same response as a ‘colored’ bathroom does today. There will just be bathrooms, for the use of people. Children will notice that for some reason they come in pairs in older businesses and public buildings, and wonder why.

Doesn’t seem that complicated: because sometimes somebody’s in one, when somebody else has to go.

We sure hope new public buildings don’t cut their facilities in half.

It’s still acceptable to be somewhat rude about men, white people, the young and privileged people in general.
And this is somewhat understandable…there’s definitely a big difference between making fun of privileged groups, or those at an advantage vs jokes about minorities. I’m not arguing “We are the real victims now!!1!” or anything like that (only one of the above labels applies to me FTR).

But ultimately I think it will be considered inappropriate to stereotype or demean in general, regardless of whether the target is a privileged group.

Yep. And not all groups are privileged. Poor rural whites aren’t exactly privileged these days. I notice it’s okay in general to pick on whites(usually poor whites) as an alternative to picking on a minority. So you’ll see movies take an easy way out and have Slavic terrorists instead of Arab terrorists. Which is really ironic given the long suffering history of the Slavs. Those are a people who could never actually be described as privileged.

Then there’s just the fact that if you have different rules for different groups, then people will continue to look at those groups differently. Even well meaning discrimination is bad. You know what they say about the road to hell and good intentions.

Our home has three bathrooms. Mine (man’s), hers (woman’s), and guests (unisex).

I only have one bathroom … it was the summer of 2013 that the last woman stepped in … she ran screaming and I haven’t seen her since.

Maybe it will be politically incorrect to ask that the toilet seat be left down, or to complain about a man pissing all over the toilet and leaving it. I’m fine with unisex bathrooms, but if that not my wedding ring on your finger, I don’t want to hear about it … okay?

God damn it, a white man just can’t say and do as he pleases anymore without the possibility of suffering some form of social sanctions, amirite?

African-American is a bit American-centric. What do you call Blacks living in, say, France? French African-Americans? More seriously, I suppose you could go with French-African or African-French, but still that doesn’t take care of the general case of Blacks living in a non-specific country.

Beyond that, as the races continue to merge, how do you refer to someone who is a quarter Black or an eighth Black? Surely we are beyond the “one drop of blood” standard. My guess is that people will refer to themselves by whatever race they identify with, and it will eventually become meaningless. At that point perhaps racial references in general will be politically incorrect.

This thread is about things that are currently PC but in the future won’t be. “Redskins” is already un-PC.
