What plant is this ?

This thing has sprung up in one of my GF’s flowerpots, unbidden, unwanted, unwelcome… possibly.
She doesn’t know what it is, or whence it came from. I don’t know either - from the shape and size of the leaves and where the soil came from I could have sworn it was a young hazelnut tree (yum yum, amirite ?), but apparently Google says those don’t have parallel (opposed) leaves. But what does it know, really ? So I defer to the astounding hive mind that is the Dope. Because I know y’all know.

We live in France, and the soil came from the French backcountry FWIW, so native American plants probably need not apply even though you never know, what with their atomic bombs whot deregulate the climate and such.

It looks a lot like tacoma stans to me, also know as yellow bells and esperanza. Are those native to your area?

I think it might be an Elder sapling (Sambucus spp)

Lieu, from Wiki this seems to be a tropical or sub-tropical plant so I’d rate it as unlikely. This is Paris and there’s all kinds of flowerbeds around so maybe ? I think **Mangetout **has it however (my mum, whose country house the soil comes from, actually mentioned growing elderberries for jam, making it even more likely).

Thanks for coming through once again, y’all !
