Okay, the family focus was interesting for a while, but I for one am ready to move on to Palin’s actual policy vision.
So, pretend you’re a journalist doing an interview with Palin. What are some of the questions you would like to ask her? Here are three of mine:
-
What do you think the emphasis of non-military spending abroad by the US should be? If you would change any of our current aid or subsidy programs, how do you think those changes should be implemented?
-
Do you support full adherence by the US to WTO agreements, or are there elements you think the US should contest? Why?
-
Do you think the ADA is a good law? Would you support new initiatives for disabled children? Explain.
I think these questions are more interesting than “what would you do about the war in Iraq” or similar ones where McCain has staked out a clear position - as a good VP, she would just parrot his line. The virtue of the questions above is that they go a little beyond the obvious, but they aren’t “trick” questions (a la, “what is the middle name of the strongest opposition leader in Zimbabwe”). And while deep knowledge might help, anybody with convictions could give at least a partial answer based on their beliefs.
