What political planks in your party's platform do you not subscribe to?

Would it be fair to say you subscribe to the line, “Abortions should be safe, legal, and rare,”? If I may generalize, that’s probably the view of most pro-choicers. Regardless of whether a woman thinks a fetus at X months is a human life or not, she won’t make the decision to have an abortion lightly. At the very least its a somewhat invasive procedure* (and none too comfortable, I’d imagine) that’s a major inconvenience. No one calls up their friends and says, “Hey guys, I’m bored. Let’s go get abortions together!” This is why mandatory counseling is bull, IMHO.

(The rant wasn’t directed at you, I’m pretty much in agreement over the causes and mostly agree that its a horrible choice to make (not being a woman though I might not understand the full impact). I’m just irked by those who think there isn’t much thought put into the decision to have a medical procedure with possible moral implications.)

*- The ‘morning after pill’ isn’t in the same league to me. Flushing a possibly fertilized egg out by inducing a period lacks a moral component IMHO. That’s what happens to most eggs, fertilized or not, anyways.

I really think we need to concede the war on drugs, legalize them, and then tax the hell out of the them (both producers and consumers).

Another person who thinks the state has no business in marriage. The only thing the state should so is issue recognition of union (rou) – which covers such things as health benefits, medical responsibility, responsibility for debt, etc. The rou would cover two adults of any gender. Then the Wiccan Handfasting ceremony can be just a recognized as the Southern Baptist Marriage ceremony. Also this allows belief systems to not recognize the union of people not in their belief system (so Westboro Baptist Church is free not to recognize any gay unions). I think to keep the majority of people happy the word “Marriage” should only refer to the union of a male and a female. This quaint custom will die out as the people who care passionate about the terminology die out and are replaced by people who have always know same sex unions as normal, then all unions will be called marriage.

From even Fox News. I think you’d have a hard time arguing that when the leader of the party says something, that it’s not somewhere a part of the party platform.

In other news, He’s said about evolution that “the jury’s still out”. Where exactly is this jury one wonders.

Alas, I am not a member of any political party, so I can’t directly answer the question of the OP. :frowning:

I’m Democrat . . .

  1. Monetary support for other countries. Our economy is in the toilet, we should be slashing aid to other countries, not increasing it, like Obama is doing.
  2. Nuclear power. This seems like the future.
  3. Gun control. The second amendment is very clear and attempts to circumvent it are troubling.

Since when is Bush the “leader”? You should be asking someone else, Michael Steele perhaps.

since January 20, 2001. Or do you assert that the president isn’t the de facto leader of his party?

Else, why would people rally around his “leadership” instead of the Republican National Committee chair?
