What prison sentence might this carry?

I recently found out that an ex-supervisor of mine was caught stealing from the company (walked out after hours with product, caught on tape numerous times).

The value of the merchandise stolen was rumored to be around $100,000.

What kind of prison sentence might he be looking at? I’m looking for general info, just for curiosity’s sake, as I didn’t like him when I worked there and now I’m relishing the fact that, at 25, he has ruined his life forever (he had planned on working retail for the rest of his life and/or going into politics).

I know there are about a million variables that go into a decision like this, but I’m looking for something like sentencing guidelines…

Theft of property worth $100,000 or more is a “severity level 5, non-person felony.” Theft of property worth more than $25,000 but less than $100,000 is a “severity level 7, non-person felony.”

If anyone can locate something in the Kansas statutes that explains what the punishments are for different numerical severity levels, your searching skills are far superior to mine. Everything I can find classifies them felonies by letter.

If I’m reading this correctly, it looks like around three years in prison, typically.
