What really killed Yassar Arafat?

Last year (or the year before) there was a brouhaha about exhuming Arafat’s corpse and performing an autopsy on him on the actual cause of death. Wikipedia compiled a list of causes: Agatha Christie style poisoning via Thallium, James Bond style poisoning with polonium-210, AIDS (he was allegedly a closeted homosexual), lasers (laser cats?), a Golem sent by Mossad (okay, that’s not true), along with the possibility he was old, in bad health, and bad habits caught up with him.

So, did they exhume the body?

If so, what was the outcome of the autopsy?

Yes. The body was exhumed in November 2012. Samples were taken and the body was reburied.

Several months of testing were planned. As far as I am aware the results of that testing have not yet been released which leads me to believe that the tests are still ongoing.

They did exhume the body, but I’m not aware of any report having been published yet (they’re searching solely for traces of polonium, AFAIK, not Thallium, laser burns or bad habits markers)

Now that is fucking nuts right there. Those CP wackos will believe anything!

I remember at the time he died, someone on this board made a pretty compelling case for Arafat having AIDS. However, after reading the Wiki article on Arafat (including one specifically about his death), it seems unlikely. Apparently there were sudden gastrointestinal problems which are not typical of late-stage AIDS.

As much as I hate to say it, poisoning seems like a not-unreasonable suspicion.
